Writing a Family Memoir

by Heather Goldsmith on January 12th, 2006

If you’re looking for a great start on how to Write a Family Memoir this article is a great place to start. Included are 12 Tips for Writing Your Own Family Memoir as a sidebar on the website.

Not everyone will feel comfortable writing down their memories for the memoir. If you’re the one organising the family memoir encourage the reluctant ones to tell their stories verbally and make a record of the tales they spin. Or set up an interview and prompt them with relevant questions which you can make a copy of their responses. MP3 players have voice record function and are small enough to be forgotten when sitting together talking.

For more excellent ideas I recommend Alexandra Johnson’s Leaving a Trace.
