Welcome to the Journal Writing Blog. I hope to share with you any resources or information I feel relevant in helping you establish the habit of keeping your own journal. My name is Heather. I live in Perth, Western Australia with my husband of nearly 19 years, and three children, 17, 15 and seven months.

The daily habit of journal writing has taken my writing to surprising places over the last thirteen years. While I originally picked up a pen and notebook to improve my writing skills, I did not expect to learn so much about myself, or find a place to rest my soul, or a place to work out the difficulties of life. The journal habit also led me to uncover ideas to use in short stories, articles, poetry and for several novels.

Many of these ideas remain in rough form in my journals, but several of those ideas went on to become published articles, stories and poetry. While none of my novels are yet published, I have journal writing to thank for getting them written at all.
