Update One Day in History

by Heather Goldsmith on December 2nd, 2006

I promised an update of the One Day in History project, so click this link to read entries from that one day; October 17 2006.

The project attracted entries from some 46,000 blogs and has prompted Ivo Dawnay, the man behind the idea, to urge people to regularly keep journals, diaries and write letters to each other.

Having received an astonishing 46,000 blogs for our One Day in History project, we are now concerned as to how they are going to be preserved for posterity,” Dawnay said. “We are in talks with the British Library about the best way of preserving them and ironically it looks as if they might end up being printed.

Leading family historian Nick Barratt says “… the throwaway nature of modern society meant that this generation was in danger of leaving behind an inadequate legacy of memories.

Barratt also asked “… when was the last time that any of us created a permanent record for future generations to look at?

I’ll add my voice and encourage you to keep a journal, too.
