The Trouble With Reading Published Journals & Memoirs
The problem with reading in the published journal and memoir genre is its subtle power to addict. It’s not so much the actual events in the book that inspire my interest, but I find myself wanting to know more about the time the writings are set; more about these fascinating people, their friends and family; wanting to immerse myself in the various culture and history; I could go on.
While I am *still reading The Journal of Fletcher Christian by Peter Corris, I can see I will be following through with more on this topic as soon as I can manage.
The trouble is I end up travelling down a different path and learn about things I never expected. This just leads to more questions, more seeking the answers and more reading. My TBR (To Be Read) pile grows by the minute!
*Getting any reading done with a toddler in the house is very difficult, to put it mildly.
