The Power of Words
I finished reading The Book Thief yesterday and am still thinking about the tale. While I have read several stories with a similar setting, Germany during WW2, this story was decidedly different.
This novel also celebrates the power of words.
“Somewhere inside her were the souls of words. They climbed out and stood beside her.” The Book Thief
I had noticed this book before and mentally put it on my ever growing TBR list. But when the Perth Festival decided to promote this novel as their One Book project for 2007, the novel got bumped up the list and I requested a copy from my local library.
After checking out the Perth Festival website and reading about Markus Zusak I was even more interested.
For those who love words and writing you may also want to participate in the project by contributing the words that are important to you in The Power of Words project inspired by the novel. Please take time to read the last 20 entries from other readers. A great journal writing prompt even if you don’t submit them for the project.
