The Last Few Pages
I was writing in my current journal today and discovered I’m on the last few pages. Which makes me realise I need to think about which one, from my collection of journals, to select for use next. In a way it makes me glad I have so many to choose from. But I am stuck with another dilemma, which one do I feel like writing in?
As I carry it everywhere I go, along with a small lunchbox of little boy supplies, drink bottles, nappies, etc, etc, I don’t want a heavy one. But there’s something satisfying about opening a cloth covered hard backed journal and penning my thoughts. Still, I have to be sensible. Looks like yet another spiral bound journal with thin flexible covers is what I need.
By the way, that photo in the link is a bit out of date. There are at least three other journals to add to that top pile now.
What do you require from your daily journal, the one you carry everywhere you go? Please use the comment section below.

Looks like you’ve got got spiral bound flexible covered journals. But if you’re looking for more, paperchase makes them. You probably already know that just thought I’d point it out since I discovered my borders has an entire section dedicated to them. (what ever happened to just the blank book/journal section? Now it belongs to a single company?) Anyway, I also wanted to point out one of the more important journaling tools I’ve picked up from my research and that is that a journal should be anything but sensible. It’s the great escape of the human mind. A refuge from the galling winds of life. Use what makes you feel comfortable. There’s no rules when it comes to journaling and there’s especially no rule that says you have to be sensible in what you put into your journal let alone the type you wish to choose to use. ;)

Thanks for commenting, Toddmen. My only reason for being sensible is that if the book I pick is too heavy my shoulder will feel it. That’s the reason for a bit of sense. If I wrote exclusively at home I’d go for something really bookish. My poor shoulder can’t handle too much weight, so there’s the need for sense.
I agree entirely with there being no rules. I’m just trying to get any idea of what people want, expect, etc, from their journals.
I just looove those Paperchase journals, too. So colourful. Thanks again. ;-)

My journal has to make me WANT to write in it. So I usually have a beautiful cover, pages that can accommodate my fountain pens without feathering or bleeding through, and something that has enough room for me to spread my writing out (so not too tiny) but not so big that it would be too heavy to carry.
My journal is pictured here:

What you can’t see in the picture is that it has a strap of leather that goes around the whole thing. So it takes a few seconds to open and close, which I really love. Taking the time is kind of a ritual for me. The leather is very soft. It is the second journal I’ve had like this and they are my favorite journals. They are 400 pages, and so last about a year.

Hi Olivia,
Thanks for sharing what you expect from your journal. Have to say, it sounds and looks lovely. I’m not sure 400 pages would last me so long, though. I tend to go over two or three pages in each entry. Thanks for joining in. ;-)
