A Creative Journal

Proven Stress Buster

by Heather Goldsmith on November 10th, 2005

After reading this report I’m even more convinced keeping a regular journal is beneficial to your health.

The study in the report shows how UCLA psychologists subjected undergraduates to stressful conditions and monitored the results. The group who spent time reflecting on their values in the form of written affirmations prior to the stress tests released far less significant levels of the hormone cortisol. This hormone can lead to various stress-related diseases.

While I felt certain the very act of writing and restating your beliefs, or making affirmations, in your journal strengthened your stand on these issues, doing so will also help you deal with stress far better. The good news is that you should keep on writing in your journal as often as you can.
