Personal Contracts - A Follow Up
Last year I shared with you a challenge my family created using a Personal Contract. I did promise to follow up on that challenge, but only realised I’d forgotten about it until the other day.
Well, we lasted all of ten months, which I still feel was a great achievement. I lost weight, felt better and enjoyed giving people something to talk about whenever I had to decline certain foods on certain days. The most surprising thing I learnt, though, was how our definition of what junk food really was had to change. I discovered that almost any food can become junk or comfort food, if you let it. It was personally challenging to find foods I had considered to be good for me could become inappropriate because of contract we’d drawn up and signed. The most important lesson we learnt as a family was how much moderation really matters.
We all agreed to break the contract in later October, although I took more convincing. I really enjoyed the way our contract held some kind of power over me so that I did stick with it. I hope you have had similar success with creating your own personal contracts.
