Novety Pens

by Heather Goldsmith on August 21st, 2006

I had an interesting response to the entry the other day on using colour in your journal. Holly shared her love of novelty pens. I felt this was something I’ve been overlooking. From time to time I see a pen with a gorgeous purple feather on it and I have an urge to purchase the pen, just for fun. I always test pens before buying and have yet to find the novelty pen that writes the way I want it to.

Do you have a favourite novelty pen you love to write with in your journal? Do you know and recommend any particular novelty pens? I like a pen to write smooth and flow easily onto the page. Please use the comments section below.

Using color in your journaling is just the beginning! Be yourself, put you on paper. Not the outside you, the inside you. Don’t be afraid of someone finding it, you can’t journal your heart if you think that in the back of your mind. I journal my heart out to God and I do it in color, with stickers, sometimes I draw pictures - whatever I want. Most people doodle in someway or another. So, In the middle of it all - if you feel like doodling, doodle! I would be insane if I didn’t have a way to put my real self out onto paper. Color pens are the beginning. There are scented pens, iced pens, frosted pens, pastel pens, pens that the ink raises when you write, … I could go on forever. Needless to say, my pen & pencil collection has grown to well over 500. And I love every one.

    Hi Kim,
Thanks for commenting. I know novelty pens are so inspiring. I’m glad you’ve shared your love for them here. I’m still to find one that writes in a pleasing way for me, though. ;-)
