NaNoWriMo Challenge

by Heather Goldsmith on October 4th, 2006

I’m sure many of you are already aware of the National Novel Writing Month Challenge. Just in case you aren’t, head on over, just click the link above, and learn more or simply join in.

The challenge requires you to write a 50,000 word novel in a month and November is the month. It is achievable. Make what you will of the challenge. Some see it as a serious challenge, but many others as a fun way to jump start a writing project.

I learn something every time I do the challenge. I’ve done the challenge three times. Not last year, though. I was super busy with my little boy. Looks like that’s going to keep me from doing it for another year, but I hope you will join in. I’ve really enjoyed writing each novel, too.

Let me know if you are going to do this writing challenge. I’ll check out your blog to see how you’re doing and cheer you on.

3 opinions for NaNoWriMo Challenge

I’ve done nanowrimo the last two years, completing it each year…and as a result, I have two 50,000 word drafts that desperately need editing. I’m torn about this year; attracted to the idea of doing it again (it was pretty easy last year) but at the same time feeling like I really should finish what I started with the other two. Maybe editing 100,000 words in a month should be my goal? Not really sure.

    What do you think?

I reckon go for it. You can get around to editing those novels some other time. Grab some of that NaNoWriMo motivation while it’s happening. I think I learn something new each time I write a novel. If I wasn’t so busy I’d definitely be doing it this year, again. Let me know, so I can follow how you’re doing. ;-)

Ouch. That hit close to home….

This article about Writer’s Self-Sabotage really hit close to home. I’ve been musing over whether or not to attempt year three of Nanowrimo, and part of the whole difficulty is that I’ve done it for two years in the past…
