Keeping a Gardening Journal

by Heather Goldsmith on December 29th, 2005

For readers with a green thumb you might like to check out this entry in The Seattle Times on keeping a gardening journal. You’ll find great ideas for how to begin and there’s even a link to an online resource My Garden Journal if you prefer to use the computer. Here’s a free gardening journal you can download, though.

While this article is excellent place when it comes to beginning a gardening journal it doesn’t cover the best kind of journal to use. Preferably select a notebook with a hard and durable cover. You could make a waterproof cover or sturdy envelope of plastic to slip your gardening journal into. Check out the plastic document envelopes at your stationary store or office supplier. Keep a glue stick inside the document holder and different coloured pens for the varied entries you’ll make on weather, when you plant, first blooms, etc.

For more ideas on keeping a gardening journal try this link, which also has great ideas on making your own gardening journals with free templates.
