Journal Prompts from The Ungame
Tonight the family played a game together after dinner. I’d never heard of it before, but apparently The Ungame has been around for some time. I enjoyed the way the questions opened up discussion on topics we wouldn’t usually discuss. I also enjoyed the way it helped my 15 year old son ask us questions he probably wouldn’t have in a normal day-to-day situation.
From a journal writing perspective, what I really liked were the prompts. Any time soon when I’m feeling a bit low or uninspired I’ll go pop the lid off The Ungame and use one of the cards as a journal writing prompt.
The questions are perfect as prompts. Tonight the family turned over cards with such posers as; If you could be given another talent or ability, what would you want it to be? How would you use it? Talk about your favourite kind of music. Why do you like it? Something I have daydreamed about is ____________? Name two people with whom you would like to spend a whole day. What would you like to do with them?
My husband drew the last question from the deck and responded that one of those people would be his father. His father has been dead for over 30 years. What a terrific journal writing prompt.
Share any other games which have great journal writing prompts in them.
