Facing Goodbyes

by Heather Goldsmith on May 16th, 2007

One thing I’ve always disliked is saying goodbye. I don’t avoid it, though I know many people do. Today I took my mother to the airport for her journey home. I watched the plane taxi along the runway and jet off into the sky with my two year old son. He was quite happy to watch the planes leave, but when he realised his mama inside, he wasn’t so happy. In fact he had a good old cry. I felt like joining him.

After getting him down for a nap I was able to sit in one of my favourite cafés and write about my feelings in my journal. I’m so glad to have such a comfort to turn to. I’ve kind of missed my journal, though. With mum here I haven’t been writing in it anywhere near as much. Apart from a few scrawled notes in my night time journal there are only two other entries since her visit.

At least I have plenty to write about over the next few days as I play a bit of catch up between those pages.
