Elizabeth Bezant of Inspirational Moments wants your personal essays. There are currently four books to fill with personal stories. Be sure to read Writing a Moments Story, Submission Guidelines and Tips on Stronger Writing. Even if you never send your essays in, the four themes make excellent journal writing prompts.

While searching and reading online I came across this response to ‘describe your bedroom.’ The author’s task was a simple one, but I’m going to challenge you to take this one step further. Don’t just write about the bedroom where you sleep and live now. Write about your favourite bedroom when you were a child.

Freaky Friday is on us once again. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.
Fiction writers are often encouraged to interview their characters to help get inside their head. This is an excellent journal exercise which I’ve found works well in understanding what motivates […]

I’m in the middle of reading Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise, by Ruth Reichl, which is a tasty chomp through many New York restaurants during the nineties.
Although I have read two of Reichl’s other books, Tender at the Bone: Growing Up at the Table and Comfort Me […]

In the mail today I received the regular monthly newsletter from my local writing centre, Peter Cowan Writers Centre, which I always enjoy reading. I was even happier when my eyes lit on the news from Kapunda Writers about their latest The Writers’ Diary, which is available now. This diary is created by writers for […]
