A Journal Moment - Bon Scott Statue
Sometimes I forget to write current events in my journal. I haven’t really figured out why yet. Perhaps it’s simply because that space is really my own. Unless a moment has a particular impact on me it may remain unnoted in my journal. I couldn’t ignore this one, though. As I was driving home from some shopping just now I heard on the radio about the Bon Scott statue to be unveiled at the Claremont Showgrounds next month. Just check out the play list for the artists appearing at this event. The event happens 24th February this year. Even though I won’t be going I’ll be noting this event in my personal journal. I’ll probably even look for newspaper coverage to paste in there, too.

hi Heather
I was interested to read that you thought the upcoming Bon Scott Concert is “journalworthy” even though you yourself are not planning to go. Would you mind elaborating as to why you think it’s worth noting this event down?
I have just started a project about Bon Scott myself, and I’m curious about what people think of him, what his significance is…

Hi Lucas,
Sure, I’d be happy to elaborate. For one thing, I live in Perth, so to have such an event and statue here is unusual, to me, at least. I am a fan, but won’t be going simply because I have a small child, a very sick husband and little money to spend on this kind of fun.
I don’t think there are many statues of rockstars, at least not in Perth. To me the event is worth noting because it reflects a social change, and is something I may forget until I reread my journal.
The name of Bon Scott has been well known to me since I was a child in the 70s, so I feel some kind of connection to the man, even though he has been dead for a long time, now.
I hope that helps you just a little. Your project sounds quite interesting, I wish you all the best with it. And thanks for taking the time to ask. ;-)
