1000 Journals Project

by Heather Goldsmith on November 9th, 2005

If you’re at all interested in journal writing, art, visual journals and mail art then you must have heard of the 1000 Journals Project. If you haven’t, take a moment to check it out. The link takes you to the splash page where you can see for yourself pages from some of the 1000 journals currently in circulation.

The project has been going for several years and a quick glance at the FAQs page should answer any questions you might have. You can register and join waiting lists to receive one of the journals, or you can just spend time viewing an interesting website. If nothing else the 1000 Journals should inspire you in your own journal writing.

Fascinating. I found myself wondering how these journals would come back to the person who started them. Then I clicked the button searching for journals 114 and 115. It turns out they don’t. These will probably be huge collectibles in a few years.

    Hi Eileen,
Yes, though some have returned. It’s a fascinating idea, which I am sure will have much interest for years to come. There’s even been a docu made about this. Thanks for leaving a comment. ;-)

    Hi Mary Emma,
It really is an amazing project. I gave up on trying to get one ages ago, though. It’d be good to check out the movie, though, I think. Thanks for leaving a comment. ;-)
